This is the first I think you’ve mentioned about a 2.2 beta, and I don’t see any release notes in the download. Could you update this post or link a list of changes? Thanks.
I’ve downloaded it to give it a try with Snow Leopard. So far so good. Thanks for the timely update.
Thanks for the update, I noticed my version stopped working in Snow Leopard. Hope this beta works.
Thanks, but I’m trying it out in Leopard, but the song search is not working for me. I mean, it searches the song just fine, but when i hit enter nothing plays.
I’m in Snow Leopard and I have the same problem Andres is having, other than that rating and showing current song and everything is working.
Just wanted to say that i am also having the same problem. The global hot keys are working, rating works, searching works, menu/Dock options work, cover options work, but i can’t play the song once i’ve searched.
Also it still has that bug (or… missing feature?) where it shows the bezel notification when you use the hot keys and there’s no way to disable it.
Is there any chance to add a feature which allows the user to change the size of the cover?
Works great in Snow Leopard. Make sure to backup custom skins before installing this.
Everytime the song changes, the Keychain Window pops up asking me to allow coversutra to use my last.fm credentials. But i cannot authroize the use, as everytime i try to click the approiate button, the window disappears.
Is Growl disabled in this release? I can’t seem to get it to work.
Growl is not working – instead i get a menu bar messages on track change, even though i have disabled the menu bar icon (it reappears, shows message then disappear)
Growl and the music search should work properly in CoverSutra 2.2 beta 5 again. Please report issues to support [at] sophiestication [dot] com.
I much rather prefer the old way of searching where it did not create it’s own playlist. Do you maybe think you could make it an optional setting in the preferences?
David> I hope and really think that this is/was an temporary solution to the “searched songs not playing”-problem. Because as you mentioned after the song you searched is play nothing else comes after, and that is unlogic and seems like a useless fuction. If i want to stop listening to music i ought to chose that myself.
I’m still using version 2.0.1 – works great with Snow Leopard :)
@Jacob Yes that’s an other aspect of it that is less fortunate. Also I don’t care much for applications that create playlists.
But it is still a beta so it would not be nice to bitch too much about it.
Runs fine on Snow Leopard. And with the new beta version search works again. Great! And thanks! :)
Thanks for the update. With this version the song details on the desktop work again in Snow Leopard :)
Thanks for fixing the song title on radio stations, Sophia. I’ve been wanting this for a very long time and finally it works in this beta version and Snow Leopard. I hope this feature will also work when CoverSutra 2.2 goes final. Thanks again.
Just a quick followup/question to my last comment. Can you make CoverSutra show the menubar dropdown window/bezel for when a track changes on a radio station? It’s really the only thing missing for a full experience when listening to a radio station like bigrradio and using CoverSutra – at least in my view. Thank you. Maybe just have it show the song title in the bezel although having the radio’s name shown too would be wonderful.
AWESOME !!! perfectly working on Snow Leopard :D
> I much rather prefer the old way of searching where it did not create it’s own playlist. Do you maybe think you could make it an optional setting in the preferences? (David)
Oh wow, this! I thought i was crazy or something, because i didn’t remember it doing this before.
I agree with Jacob that CoverSutra creating its own play list completely destroys its search functionality for me (and search and hot keys are all i use CS for, so as you can imagine it’s a pretty big deal to me).
I really do hope that this is a temporary thing or that it will be optional; otherwise, i will have to stop using it (or go back to one of the really old versions, if it’s still possible). :/
Thanks for the update!
[Bug:]
- scrobbling songs which are on repeat1 doesn’t work with beta5.
- i’d also prefer the old song search function as already mentioned by David and Jacob.
[Feature request:]
- this menubar bezel which appears on every song change should also appear when switching songs with the keyboard media-keys or coversutra keyboard shortcuts.
Glad to have CoverSutra working under Snow Leopard; thanks for making the beta available. This release also feels amazingly fast compared to the version I was using previously. *Thank you* for a great product!
Hey,
The right click on the desktop finally works (used to be on beta 2) which is great, but like some other users mentioned, I don’t really like the new playlist system as it only plays one song. Could it be made an option?
I really like the previous system used. Im going to go back on beta 2, or 4 if I can still find it for now.
Thanks for considering this.
Great product by the way ^^
Possibly my favourite mac App ive found recently. The new playlist system for the search bar ruins it singlehandedly.
There is something going wrong here on Snowy… CoverSutra 2.2b5 is shutting down on its own… no message, no nothing :( (I had that 2 times now)
Bug on Coversutra 2.2b5 running on Snow Leopard 10.6.1; doesn’t display artwork on desktop.
I’d really like to see a bit of control over the text (size, and alignment-left right and center?) used on the desktop artwork, and perhaps the ability to re-size it a bit (it’s damn small on my 24″).
Thanks so much for the timely snow-leopard update (I was really missing coversutra for a while there on the dev build).
I’m running the latest beta on Snow Leopard and I have the same issue on 10.6 and 10.6.1 with iTunes 9: Ratings don’t work when listening to a genius mix.
I can set the rating with the pop up, but when I check it iTunes, the some rating has not changed. This is very annoying because I *love* the new genius mix feature, but I can’t set (or change) ratings of the current song without manually searching for it in the library and setting it that way. Far too inconvenient.
Thanks very much!
10.6.1, 2.2b5 here. I’ve got the desktop album art here. The problem for me is that when I tell CS to pause iTunes, and iTunes is on a playlist other than the one that’s playing, it sends a “Stop playing” command to iTunes, rather than pause. :(
I also got no album cover on my desktop (10.6.1)
Sophie, thanks so much for this update! All is good in the hood for me on Snow Leopard 10.6.1 with iTunes 9
Rogie, does setting ratings for songs while playing a genius mix work for you? I’d like to confirm this is a general bug and not a problem just on my system. Thanks.
Note I can pick a rating, but it’s not saved in iTunes when I check. If anyone else can check this too, that would be great.
CoverSutra doesn’t change ratings of tracks played through a Genius-Mixe playlist. That’s currently due to a limitation of iTunes 9. A future update will hopefully fix this.
Thanks for the clarification Sophia! I’ll stay tuned for future updates.
Sophia,
Can you please codesign your application so we don’t have those annoying keychain access prompts for accessing last.fm credentials? Thanks!
Awsome update! Thanks a lot. The only thing i wish for is maybe the option to switch between showing tv-shows, podcast, audiobooks in the search field. Not that I really want that but to be able to choose is often a good thing.
Thanks,
Jacob swe
I would love the Search to support an attached iPod.
Does anyone else have problems with the searchfield just stops working? If i restart everythings fixed. Nothing happens when i push the menu bar icon with a left click but if i right click the meny shows. Strange!
Why does the cover have to be so damn small?
In earlier version they were much better!
Everything seams to working for me again in Snow leopard. The only thing that annoys me is that the cover art on the desktop no longer sits behind normal icons. Also will this auto-update when the newer version or beta comes out?
Here’s an oddity, probably has more to do with how iTunes works than you. If I play an album (in this case MIKA’s new album) with iTunes LP (launching the music from the iTunes LP’s menus rather than traditional iTunes lists) CoverSutra 2.2b6 displays it like it’s an album with no cover art. If I choose the same tracks just from iTunes like any other album, CS displays the art fine. Odd to have this deluxe format presentation in the iTunes window and in the corner of my desktop is that aggravated default text on white staring at me.
Looks like it’s working properly on Snow Leper now. Huzzah! I’d been missing my song notifications. Thanks, Sophie!
Really like the new version. Searching is now much faster with my large iTunes library. Coversutra could take back its place im my menu bar.
There’s one thing that I don’t like though: why does CS is playing only one song after a search? CS used to play all the remaining songs of an album after selecting the first one…
works great now, only thing i miss is the scrobble function of songs which are repeated continuously.
Cool! All that is necessary for the Snow Leopard.
I could make Russian localization. Are you interested?
The album floater thingy never remembers its position.
I would recommend taking a deeper look at your Growl support. It seems that Growl is only supported in the sense that when a song expires and a new one starts playing on its own does the Growl notifications option work. When you use the hotkeys on your keyboard (the built-in apple keyboard ones, not the CoverSutra ones), you still get the standard CoverSutra notification. This is not right.
2.2.1 does not work correctly with Snow Leopard. The Bezel is always shown, no matter what I change in prefs. I just want it to show the menubar notification, but I have never seen it. Is there some secret pref combination that is supposed to enable menubar notifications?
Hi, I’m not sure if anyone asked for this, but I use CoverSutra all the time for shortcuts, and there’s one missing: Album Skip! In iTunes, ⌥⇧⌘→ skips to the next album (both on shuffle and regular play mode). I’d really love that shortcut!
By the way I think I never said here how I enjoy CoverSutra since I got it two years ago, so: thanks for CS!
Hello Sophia! I have been using coversutra for over 2 years now and I simply cannot live without it. As an avid last.fm user, I would LOVE to see a “Love” button so It can be submitted to my last.fm profile
Thank you!
just love you and your apps…
gr8
Me too would LOVE to see a Last.fm “Love” button in the menu bar, so that It can be submitted to my last.fm profile. I really hope to see this in the one of the future releases. Thanks for great app and have fun! :)
